11 weeks and counting!

Well, we are officially only 1 weeks away from getting into that 2nd trimester. it's been a crazy ride. I'm still so anxious about everything. Even though things are going really well and we've had nothing but good news - I have had so many friends in the last few months lost their babies much later into their 2nd trimester and it really scares me. I don't think we'll be out of the woods until I'm in labor and that baby is screaming in my arms.
Yesterday right before our 11 week ultrasound my boss told me that a co-worker who had been trying to get pregnant as long as I had and was finally there and 18 weeks along had lost her baby over the weekend. A few months ago another co-worker lost twins at 16 weeks. I guess you just have to take the pregnancy in stride and hope to make it through until that baby can survive on it's own outside the womb.
Yesterday was our last appointment at the fertility clinic - we have now officially graduated to a regular OB who we will see on the 30th.
Yesterday Mom and Mike both got to join me at the ultrasound and I was hoping they would see that baby moving around but it was so asleep (but that heart was going strong!) the doctor even tried to wake it up but it was not having any of that.
Here's the latest picture....it's starting to look like an actual baby now! when I told the Dr. about my anxiety over still losing this baby she said she understood and it was natural because of my past experiences so she told me to make up that I had bad cramps and ask for an ultrasound every couple of weeks to watch the progress. We'll see how far my mind can go without freaking out before I resort to that.
The baby is now 45mm long and is measuring at 11 weeks and 5 days even though I was only 11 weeks.....a big baby!

The Gender Predictor Prediction

I bought this test two pregnancies ago but never made it past 10 weeks to take it. Well, on Tuesday we will be at 11 weeks so we took the test today. This consisted of peeing in a cup and then transferring it to another cup with some powder in the bottom. We had to swirl it around for ten seconds and then wait for 10 minutes. If it stayed yellow/orange it's a girl light green to dark green a boy. Well ours quickly turned to the darkest green as you can see. Which they say is boy!! However, this test is only 80% accurate - and the high heart rate suggests a girl....so who really knows! We don't have the gender ultrasound until March 5th.

The dancing one

I don't have a scanner at home so I had to wait until this morning - but here is the picture of the baby from yesterday's ultrasound.
Look at that big head full of brains I'm sure ;)
No longer a shrimp! We have another ultrasound next Tuesday. This Saturday I'm going to take the pee gender test and we'll see what it says. Most signs are pointing towards a girl right now so who knows!

Wiggle Worm

I just have to say that I had a follow up ultrasound today because the fertility clinic wanted to follow up on the ER's stuff. So...I went in at 2:00 today and the baby must have been asleep because as soon as the Doctor got in there with the probe and got a little bit close to that baby it started to wiggle around like crazy!!!
It was SO weird to see that baby dancing around like crazy and not being able to feel it. Everything looked perfect again today and we are blessed that things have turned out so wonderfully. Seeing that baby actually moving around inside of me of it's own will (in a very irritated manner) made everything seem SO much more real and like this really IS happening!
On the way home I had a thought....I wonder if skinny girls can feel their babies earlier then fat girls? I'll never know unless I magically become thin and then have another baby. Oh well - my baby is warmly insulated with lots of softness to snuggle in.
Have a great day everyone!

Scary Weekend!!!

Well, I can say that I am very excited to be sitting in my house right now. We've had a bit of a scary weekend. Yesterday about 5:30 I went to the bathroom and passed something (I'm an expert at miscarriage so I thought I had a good idea of what it was). Mike quickly took me to the ER where they were confused because I had no bleeding, no cramping, just this passed piece of tissue.
After several hours and an ultrasound we still had nothing - the ultrasound was "incunclusive" (I think the Dr. running it was an idiot - hence the inconclusive outcome). They kept me overnight for observation (yet didn't admit me so I spent the night in the very loud ER on a gurney!), and then did another Ultrasound today with a real ultrasound technition. Her conclusion - Baby looked perfect measured at 9 weeks 5 days - which is exactly where it should be today. This was still confusing because what did I pass? Well - this was the final answer. Herterotopic Pregnancy - which means there were two babies, the one we've been watching in my uterus who is coming along perfectly and another that attached itself to an ovary and likely stopped growing very early on, this is what I passed.
What a stressful day it's been. I am ever so thankful that our little shrimp is safe and secure and things worked out for the best.
I need to take a nap now - 20 hours in the ER, no sleep and nothing to eat or drink for 18 of those hours makes for a VERY cranky Becky.
Oh and Dad - the baby now has a heartbeat of 167 beats per minute - if your theory about the sex that girls have heart beats above 140 BPM is correct then get ready for ANOTHER grand daughter!

A little shrimp

Our ultrasound yesterday went great!! As you can see we are the very proud parents of what appears to be a quickly growing shrimp. The baby measured 9 weeks and 2 days even though we were only 8 weeks and 6 days - so it's growing nicely! it had a heart beat of 140 bpm and the Dr. was very pleased with it's growth and said everything looked absolutely perfect!! I stay at this fertility clinic until the
20th when I have my last ultrasound there and then we get to "graduate" to the regular Ob/Gyn clinic and I have another ultrasound on the 30th.
Remember 2 pregnancies ago when I bought that "itelligender" thing that's supposed to tell the gender from pee in a cup? Well, I can take it next week so I'll keep you all posted!
We appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts keep them coming, they're working!!
